Be Heard and Feel Heard

Counselling, Coaching, Training, Public Speaking & Presentation

Welcome to KJ Consulting…

I am an integrative counsellor, coach, trainer, teacher, speaker and communication consultant based in Wellington, Somerset, with an additional clinic in Torquay, Devon.  I also offer some online options and training courses nationally.

I believe in each person’s ability for change and personal growth and I am passionate about helping to facilitate transformation through individual, couple and group work. I am dedicated to integrating different ways of working to best support all my clients and developing new and interesting workshops and enabling groups.

Counselling:

Would you like some support, some help to feel better?

Whatever you are going through, you don’t have to do it on your own.

Counselling can be very helpful in enabling you to work through past issues and present challenges. I have nearly ten years’ experience and have helped a lot of clients with issues such as depression, anxiety, bereavement, work challenges, grief, health issues and relationship problems.

Coaching:

Coaching has a long tradition of helping people achieve their goals and I specialise in helping clients achieve their communication goals.

Perhaps you would like to prepare for a speech; a wedding; overcome fear and nerves; communicate effectively; prepare for an interview; learn valuable presentation skills or enhance your business or personal life?

I have fifteen years’ experience of helping clients understand what they would like to achieve, develop new skills and build confidence.

Personal Consultancy:

Personal Consultancy is a new model of integrating the skills of counselling and coaching together into a single approach.

This approach has many benefits as the counselling and coaching approaches can be called upon as required by the client to best support you to feel better and achieve your goals.  Sometimes it is past experiences and internal barriers which are holding us back from our successes and working in this way enables us to look closely at what’s holding you back whilst staying very focused on your goals.

Clients who are interested in working in this way are invited to contact me and we can discuss the benefits of this methodolo

Group Work:

Group work is an excellent way of accessing counselling or coaching whilst building relationships with others.  This approach enables the focused work of the group, increased self-awareness and confidence to develop relationships.  The support of the group, particularly when you know that you all share a common challenge, is particularly empowering.

Through the year I frequently offer specialised group work, such as ‘Women’s Group’, ‘Coping with Anxiety’, ‘Communication in Couples’ and ‘Gain Communication Confidence’. If you would like to register your interest in these or other types of group work please do get in touch.

Training:

I offer specialist bespoke training for charities, schools, businesses and organisations, nationally.  I develop bespoke training courses in many areas, including: presentation, public speaking, communication, team dynamics, counselling & listening skills, disability inequality, building confidence, interview skills, empowering behavioural change in others, chairmanship, professional boundaries and handling nerves.  If you have a training requirement you would like to discuss please do get in touch.

I also run workshops open to all through the year on a variety of subjects, including: public speaking, interview skills, communication in couples and confidence.  I keep the group sizes small and these workshops are usually held near Wellington, Somerset.  I can also bring these workshops to you, for groups of 8 or more.

New for 2018 is the addition of a range of continues professional development workshops for counsellors.

Speaker for Hire:

I am an experienced and entertaining speaker, available for hire at meetings, events and functions.  I offer talks on a range of subjects and durations from 45 minutes upwards.  I provide talks on: public speaking (top tips and top fails), mental health, looking after your own mental health, depression and anxiety self-care, and building self-esteem and confidence.

If you would like to discuss your specific requirements or have a topic in mind, that you think I could help with, then please do get in touch.

School Counselling:

I am passionate about counselling in schools and believe that all children and staff could benefit from the ability to access therapy, if and when needed.

I offer bespoke packages of counselling to both primary and secondary schools.  A bespoke package means that schools can have the counselling they need for their children and staff without needing to employ a counsellor.  As a qualified teacher I have experience of schools and can work within the school day to enable children and staff to have access to counselling and support.  I work with the school to establish the amount of time needed in school and how access to counselling will operate.

Please do get in touch if you would like to discuss how counselling could benefit your school

Such a powerful thing to do, just be with somebody.Piglet let himself into Pooh's house to find his friend lying on the floor under his kitchen table with a blanket over his head.

"Um... Pooh? What are you doing?"

"Hiding," muttered Pooh.

"Hiding from what?"

"Everything," said Pooh with a heavy sigh. "Listen, I know we were meant to be going out with Rabbit and Tigger for a few drinks tonight, but I just don't think I can face leaving the house today. You go without me. I'll be Absolutely Fine."

Piglet stood for a moment, looking at the blanketed mound of his friend underneath the table. Then, carefully, he took off his shoes, lowered himself down onto the floor, crawled underneath the table and put his head underneath the blanket next to a surprised looking Pooh.

"What are you doing?" asked Pooh.

"I'm just being here," said Piglet. "With you."

"But I'm Absolutely Fine," said Pooh. "You go out and have fun. I'll be Absolutely Fine."

"No," said Piglet. "All things considered, I don't think that I will go out. I think that, actually, I'm going to stay right here with you, under the table, with our heads underneath a blanket. Because what I have learnt, over my many years, is that the people who say that they're Absolutely Fine... actually are quite often the people who need a good friend with them most of all."

Pooh gulped, and found that he couldn't actually speak, but he nodded his head so vigorously that he nearly dislodged the blanket from atop them, and Piglet understood completely.

'You don't get over grief, you just learn to have it as part of your life.'

This analogy of how we deal with bereavement is spot on.
